A Press conference was organized in Chandigarh on December 29, to formally announce PIFAA in India and it was attended by the leading personalities of Punjabi film and music industry - Om Puri, Manmohan Singh, Prem Chopra, Divya Dutta, Arya Babbar, Gurpreet Guggi, Preeti Sapru, Rama Vij, Satish Kaul, Jaspal Bhatti, Hans Raj Hans, Bhagwant Mann, Gippy Grewal, Master Saleem, Satinder Sartaj etc.
An audio-visual presentation explaining the whole concept of PIFAA was also shown followed by a video report on the Chandigarh function. The event was attended by Om Puri, Prem Chopra, Priti Sapru, Satish Kaul, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Divya Dutta, Aarya Babbar, Manmohan Singh, Navniat Singh, Yogesh Chabra, Jaspal Bhatti, Rama Vij,Kapil Sharma, Hans Raj Hans, Pammi Bai, Satinder Sartaj, Master Saleem, Rana Ranabir, Binnu Dhillon etc. The gathering was highly appreciative of the initiative taken by Rajinder Saini, President of the Parvasi Entertainment Inc. and was eager to attend the Award function to be held in Toronto, Canada on 4th August 2012.
PIFAA is being launched to celebrate the important history of Punjabi film, the dominance of Punjabi people in Bollywood and the increasing international popularity of contemporary Punjabi films.
